4. Spend More On Advertising.
Many business owners don’t realize that creditors drying up causes advertising prices to go down. So if it cost less for you to get more business, which means more business and more profit for you. Ensure you measure the response to all of your advertising in order to evaluate whether or not it represented a viable investment and to shape your future investment decisions. This is a smart business tactic not used by many. Ensure you investigate advertising price and you will notice that it is extremely cheap and effective at the moment.
5. Get More Business With Your Current Database.
The Potential that lies in Existing Customers Your best immediate sources of additional profits and increased business are your existing customers. These are the people who you’ve already invested time, energy and money with you to create a relationship. It usually between five to ten times easier to get an existing customer to buy from you again, than it is to get someone to buy from you for the first time. Prospects are more likely to become customers if your marketing efforts are complimented by a recommendation from a friend or family member.
6. Get Help If You Lose Your Home.
Get help if you you lose your home. Your local authority has a legal duty to provide help to certain people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. You may qualify if you are in priority need. This could be because you have dependent children or are pregnant. Or it could be that you are vulnerable because you’re elderly or have a physical or mental illness or disability. Get expert advice about how to make an application for housing if you lose your home.
7. Keep Or Start A Garden.
Cutting down on restaurant meals means eating more meals at a home, but if you have to buy all your food ready-made, you still wont be saving as much as you could be. That’s why many Depression survivors kept backyard gardens to grow fresh fruits and vegetables. While there is still the cost of seeds and maintenance (ie, water costs), this is far cheaper than buying from stores and ensures that food costs are kept to the absolute minimum.
8. Move To Where The Work Is.
A tragic fact of the people losing their job is how many people suffered by staying in stagnant areas when they could have (perhaps at a high cost) moved somewhere more prosperous. Don’t make that mistake today! Many of those who came out of the Depression financially intact had the prescience to see that the job outlook at home would only get worse and the courage to move somewhere else. If you have the opportunity to do the same, take advantage of this.
9. Entertain Yourself Spend Less.
A hallmark of Depression-era spending habits was spending less to entertain yourself. Rather than spending gobs of money on extravagant nights out on the town, people found joy in life’s simpler and less expensive pursuits – exercise, reading, or enjoying the great outdoors. While you may not be ready to cut all entertainment expenses out of your budget, you can at least buy your thrills wisely. Fly during non-peak times of the year, see matinee showings of movies, and split entertainment costs with friends in a group.
10. Become A Bargain Hunter.
This is a favorite amongst a lot of Mums and Dads looking to save money. If you can save money or buy cheaper in bulk then do so. Learn to look online for bargains, or keep your eyes peeled at the mall for a dead giveaway bargain. You can even teach your kids to do this as well, and make it fun for them and reward them.
